NY Times Bestselling author of Cutting for Stone

Abraham Verghese, MD, MACP, is Professor for the Theory and Practice of Medicine at the Stanford University School of Medicine and Senior Associate Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine. Born of Indian parents who were teachers in Ethiopia, he grew up near Addis Ababa and began his medical training there. His personal and professional journey has been chronicled in his books and in Dr. Verghese’s articles in The New Yorker.
