TUCSON (Jan 23, 2012) – The Metropolitan Pima Alliance (MPA) has elected Alice Templeton of Gordley Group to lead the 2012 Board of Directors. Past-President Brian Harpel of The Harpel Company said, “Alice has the enthusiasm, insight and drive to take MPA to the next level.” Templeton will work with Executive Director Amber Smith and the rest of the Board in creating the organization’s first Strategic Plan. Newly selected to the Board this year, David Ollanik from D.L. Withers Construction and Hans Rhey from Century Link join twenty-two other board members in representing a cross section of professionals within the real estate and development industry. The Board has a strong reputation for actively participating in the organization from planning events to participating in stakeholder groups. Templeton remarked, “This year I plan on capturing and using the abundant amount of expertise, experience and passion shared by our Board Members to further our industry, as well as MPA.”

Other organizational changes include selecting Becky Gordon to lead the organization’s government relations efforts. Gordon replaces Lisa Hoskin who recently left the organization to return to the homebuilding industry. Gordon, originally from York, England, worked for KB Home for many years and then with Rancho Sahuarita Management Company, and brings the technical expertise necessary to lead MPA in its public policy advocacy efforts. Smith stated, “Becky has been an MPA Board Member for several years so she knows the ins and outs of the organization. This, in combination with her land use background, will help her identify key local issues and facilitate problem-solving solutions and processes. She will be able to pick up right where Lisa left off in being a community leader on many issues like water and wastewater.”

Beginning January 30th, as Government Relations Director, Gordon will work closely with the MPA board to influence public policy and decision-making and to facilitate dialogue between members of the development community and those in the public sector.
