Reading Tutors Neededby Hot Off The Press (Release) on Jul. 09, 2012, under Press Releases
Tucson OASIS is looking for volunteers who want to make a profound difference in a child’s life. The OASIS Intergenerational Tutoring program is expanding and needs volunteers immediately.
OASIS pairs children in the K-5 grades who are struggling with reading skills with a caring adult tutor. Tutors commit to meet twice a week with the child for an entire school year to mentor the child and share a love of reading.
This is an opportunity to change the direction of a young person’s life and give them a real chance to succeed. Tutors have the opportunity to spend enough time with a child to make a true difference. Training is provided. Prior teaching experience is not required.
Literacy is at the heart of success – in school and life. OASIS tutors make a difference with children all across the country. For more information, call Janine Prewitt, OASIS Volunteer Tutor Coordinator at 520-322-5627 and visit us online at www.oasisnet.org/Tucson
