Dynamic African Reggae and Afro Pop star and world class athlete, K-Bass and his band FM will headline a night of music and dancing on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at The Hut at 305 N 4th Avenue. The event will be the official release party of the CD “La Liberté” by K-Bass.
The evening will also feature performances by Mamaxé Dance Collective, Planet Djembe and Batucaxé. The public is invited to enjoy the high energy genres of Afro-Reggae, West African Djembe and African Pop.
“La Liberté” the new CD from K-Bass is now available for sale. The second compilation of his career, the album consists of seventeen songs all written and performed by K-Bass.
Each track on “La Liberté” uniquely delivers a positive and uplifting message spanning styles from Afro-Pop to Reggae. K-Bass composes and performs in three languages; English, French and Bambara-his native tongue from Côte d’Ivoire (The Ivory Coast).
“This album is my gift to the world and all its people,” said K-Bass. “Through music, we share our love, express our frustrations, and hopefully offer solutions to the problems each of us shares–no matter who we are or where we’re from.”
Along with a positive message, “La Liberté” offers an entertaining and energetic music style that makes people want to get up and dance.
K-Bass, also known as Bassirima Soro–the barefoot runner, is a world renowned athlete and the current record holder for the 15,000 meter and marathon for the Ivory Coast as well as a six time winner of the Tucson Marathon.
By embarking on a music career, K-Bass is following a family tradition. His father was a traditional medicine man, singer and Ngoni (a string instrument originating in West Africa) player and his mother was a singer and dancer.
