Internationally Renowned Belly Dancer “Sadie” to Headline BDT’s “An Evening of Dance” Performanceby Hot Off The Press (Release) on Aug. 07, 2012, under Press Releases
Tucson, Arizona – A Desert Dream, only this time… do it with your eyes open and allow the fantasy of Belly Dance Tucson’s annual dance production “An Evening of Dance” wisk you off to lands far away. This 4th Annual show features Sadie Marquardt, known by “America’s Got Talent” fans simply as “Sadie” as the headliner.
“We are excited to have one of the preeminent Belly Dance Artists headlining in our show,” said Jessica Walker, owner, Belly Dance Tucson Studio and event host. “Sadie is so accomplished that she transcends dance styles and compels you to watch and be in awe; that’s why she was able to make it so far in the America’s Got Talent show.”
“An Evening of Dance” production is a breakaway from traditional Belly Dance performances where dance troupes perform in very small and intimate audience settings. Due to the show’s headliner, the performance will take place at Amphitheater High Schools grand Theatre.
“For this show, I wanted to elevate Belly Dance to be in line with the Star Status of Ballet,” said Jessica Walker, owner, Belly Dance Tucson Studio and event host. “That’s why I had to get Sadie Marquardt. She is arguably among the best Belly Dancers in the world and because she is BIG I had to find a theatre that was not only big enough for the audience, but I also wanted easy and ample parking for the attendees.”
The ancient art form of Belly Dance has been wowing audiences for thousands of years with their spectacular shakes and shimmies. This year, Belly Dance Tucson brings together the states finest talents and the loveliest ladies of belly dance for their 4th Annual “Evening of Dance” performance. “An Evening of Dance” production is a loosely woven storyline of the many variants of this ancient dance form. Scenes change and dancers leave the stage and interact with the audience through the theatre isles. What the audience can expect is a visually stunning performance of unmatched energy, sensuality and grace.

Bellydancing is another form of dance which can be both sensual and great exercise.
Bellydancing originates from the mideast and its rythumic appeal is appreciated and addapted globally. Most of the basic steps and techniques used in belly dancing involve circular motions isolated to a certain part of the body. For example, a circular movement “drawn” parallel to the floor by the hips is known as a “hip circle”, or by the rib-cage known as a “chest circle”. Accents such as “hip lifts” or “drops” are use to draw the eye to hip movement such as “shimmies or hip circles”, while shoulder or arm movements are to accent chest or belly undulations.
Bellydancing has become popular in pop culture with Shakira, Beyonce and Britney Spears all performing belly dance routines.
