OBAMARAMA! A GLBT Fundraiser for the Obama Presidential
Campaign 2012
TUCSON, AZ – On October 21, 2012, the GLBT community will come
together to raise funds for the campaign to reelect President Barack Obama. The
event being hosted at Woody’s Bar, 3710 N. Oracle Road, boasts to be an event
like no other.
More than 30 progressive local and state candidates are slated
to attend and will be afforded an opportunity to speak to the crowd. Alongside candidates and GLBT community
leaders, there are more than 20 entertainers from throughout the Arizona GLBT
community that will be performing. Local
longtime entertainer and self-proclaimed “Tucson’s Queen of Comedy”, Lucinda
Holliday (aka Larry Moore), came up with the idea to energize and motivate the
community. “This election is too
important to sit by and do nothing. We
cannot afford to lose what few gains we have made nationally over the past
several years,” said Moore. Another
local entertainer, Critt Crimson (who writes and performs his own music) says:
“At this place in time, we are in desperate need of a social revolution with a
goal of social equality. Social revolutions take togetherness. Everyone needs to join forces because freedom
isn’t free.” Crimson further explains
that “this event is really about more than just GLBT issues. All issues affect this community: education,
immigration, economy, jobs, and equal treatment under the law.”
Sarah Palin (in the form of Phoenix entertainer Celia Putty),
will be taking to the stage with Moore, Crimson, Tempest Dujour, China Collins,
Felicia Minor, Nadi Nature, Georgia Brown, Holly Woodland, Vivika D’Angelo,
Suzette Rodriguez, America Lopez, Romeo White, Adam S. Napple and many more.
This will also help in reenergizing and rejuvenating the
Stonewall Democrats of Pima County (the GLBT caucus of the Pima County
Democrats). The event is scheduled to
start at 3pm and will have a block-party type feel to it. Food and beverages will be available for
purchase.
