As a 20 year old student Eddie Prchal is accomplishing something most adults will never accomplish. Opening his own business. After years of hard work, dedication, and planning his dreams of opening up a smoothie/supplement store is finally becoming a reality. Eddie Prchal has lived in Scottsdale, Arizona for the majority of his young life. When Eddie Prchal was 15 a series of unfortunate events unfolded. His father lost his job, his family became financially in jeopardy and his mother, Donna Prchal, became very sick with a mysterious illness. After countless doctors and hospitals in Phoenix were unable to diagnosis her condition the decision was made to send her down to the University Medical Center in Tuscon Arizona. With multiple doctors working on her case around the clock the heart breaking discovery was made. Donna was diagnosed with Subcutaneous panniculitis-like T-cell lymphoma beta gamma. The only treatment option for her was experimental chemo therapy with a 5% chance that it would work.Donna Prchal passed away on June 30, 2009, her birthday, and the same day the Prchal family lost their house. Eddie Prchal was heartbroken but vowed to make his mother proud and after seeing the financial struggles his family endured after their father lost his job, open his own business. He spent the next couple years working with different business owners, making his own notes on the best way to get started and to be successful. After finishing high school he decided to go to college at U of A, the place that finally discovered what his mother’s sickness truly was, and that tried their hardest to save her. After spending his first year at college he became extremely interested in healthy living. Eddie saw that it was really difficult for many students to make healthy choices at college so he decided to open a smoothie/supplement store. A healthy/quick food alternative for the modern day student. He spent a year putting together a business plan, investors, sampling and researching different types of smoothies and supplements, holding taste testings, and finally finding a location. On Friday, October 26, 2012 Eddie Prchal’s dream will finally become a reality. Join and support him at noon at “NRG BLENDS” smoothie and supplement store. Located near the U of A rec center at 1122 E. 6th Street, right across from sixth street garage, parking is in the back behind NRG BLENDS.
