Tucson-Mexico Trade Initiatives Update with Tucson Mayor Rothschild
by Hot Off The Press (Release) on Nov. 09, 2012, under Press ReleasesTUCSON, Arizona, Nov. 7, 2012 – The Southern Arizona Logistics Education Organization (SALEO) and Sunbelt World Trade Association(SWTA) are proud to announce their second joint meeting; this meeting features Mayor Jonathan Rothschild speaking on “Update on Tucson-Mexico Trade Initiatives.“ Also Bruce Greenberg of the Mexico City office of Deloitte, LLP, will give a short talk on “Doing Business in Mexico.”
The dinner will be from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm at the Viscount Suite Hotel, 4855 E Broadway, Tucson, AZ 85711. To attend, the cost is $30 general ($25 for first-time attendees, $10 for students). SWTA’s mission is to understand globalization, its impact on, and, opportunities for Southern Arizona and to provide members and guest an opportunity to network and do business.
SALEO’s mission is to advance global logistics through education, networking, and workforce development. SALEO not only offers a forum for logistics providers and users to share best practices and learn about the latest issues affecting transportation and logistics, but also spotlights the importance of the logistics industry, and especially the role that it plays in the region as a catalyst for economic development.
In addition, SALEO awarded $14,000 in scholarships this year to 14 outstanding students, — ten from the Tucson area and one each from Marana, Phoenix, Snowflake and Yuma. Six of the winners are studying at Pima Community College; three at the University of Arizona; three at Northern Arizona University and two out-of-state. Since SALEO’s first scholarships were given in 2009, SALEO has awarded a total of $30,000 in scholarships.
