Tucson-based Destination Marketing Solutions Provider

Honored for Integrating Event Impact Calculator with CRM System

TUCSON, Ariz. (Dec. 5, 2012) – Simpleview is excited to announce that the Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce has honored them with its 2012 Copper Cactus Award in the “Nextrio Innovation through Technology” category. The award recognizes businesses in Southern Arizona that use technology to solve problems and increase efficiency.

The chamber specifically honored Simpleview for its work to better the travel and tourism industry, alongside of Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) – one of the largest trade associations focused on destination marketing organizations (DMOs).

In mid-2011, DMAI developed an Event Impact Calculator to help DMOs measure the economic value of an event and calculate its return on investment to the local economy. The calculator compiles information provided by the DMO with several sources, including survey data supplied by Tourism Economics, which is an Oxford Economics company, and city-specific data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Simpleview successfully integrated the calculator into its destination management system – Simpleview CRM – in April 2012. Combining the calculator’s power with Simpleview’s array of integrated products for forecasting and reporting marketing efforts, the company addressed a goal that many DMOs have – being able to accurately quantify an event’s impact in terms of direct expenditures, taxes, employment and wages.

Ryan George, CEO of Simpleview, said the integration prepares DMOs to make the case to stakeholders for their organization’s ongoing development and growth, specifically related to meeting sales.

“While DMOs strive to prove their worth to elected officials, as well as their members and partners, this integration helps further DMAI’s goal to develop an industry-wide standard for DMOs to use when determining the direct and indirect impacts of a meeting to a region,” he said.

This year’s celebration marks the third time Simpleview has received a Copper Cactus Award, as the company was named as Tucson’s “Best Place to Work” in 2007 and 2011.

“We are proud to be continually recognized by the Copper Cactus judges and awards committee,” said George. “To be included among other innovative companies in Southern Arizona that have won this year is a true honor.”
