About Denim Day: In 1998, the Italian Supreme Court Dismissed charges against a rape suspect because his victim was wearing jeans at the time of the attack. The judgement sparked a worldwide outcry. The next day women in the Italian legislature protested by wearing jeans, thus sparked Denim Day. Denim Day is a worldwide rape prevention and education campaign, where community members are asked, to make a social statement with their fashion statement and on this day wear jeans as a visible means of protest against misconceptions that surround sexual assault. Denim Day Tucson holds an annual live art event along with cultivating support and education.
