TFCU SURPASSES $10K IN 2012 SUPPORT FOR FINANCIAL EDUCATION
Tucson, AZ - Tucson Federal Credit Union (TFCU) announced the depth of its dedication to Financial Education in 2012 with totals of $11,679 and 433 employee hours
devoted to classes taught throughout Tucson and Pima County. This includes both their Youth and Adult Financial Education programs.
In the 2012 calendar year, TFCU’s Financial Education Specialist successfully delivered Youth Financial Education courses to 6,737 students through 298 presentations. The curricula are catered to fit each grade-level, serving all of K-12 with subject matter ranging from the basics of saving and checkbook math to business plans, credit reports, and home loans. Following a restructuring of the content in late 2011, TFCU’s 2012 Adult Financial Education courses were delivered on-site at a number of non- and for-profit businesses throughout Pima County for both English and Spanish-speaking audiences.
Tucson Federal Credit Union’s free Financial Education offerings have been celebrated since the program’s inception in 2006, receiving awards and honorable mentions in the
Louise Herring Philosophy-in-Action Member Service, Desjardin Financial Education, and Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Awards. The awards are presented by the Mountain West Credit Union Association, the regional trade association representing 154 member credit unions and 3.2 million credit union members throughout Arizona, Colorado, and Wyoming. With little change to TFCU’s Financial Education curricula in 2012, the Credit Union forwent submission into the most recent year’s judging.
