Third Annual Arts Event Held from Feb. 4-9 at Green Fields Country Day School
TUCSON, AZ – Jan. 16, 2013 – Visual artists are invited to participate in the third annual Plein Air Paint Out on the 22-acre Green Fields Country Day School campus in northwest Tucson from February 4 through 9. The deadline to apply is Jan. 30.
Artists are invited to paint outdoors anywhere on the historic campus that began as a boarding school for boys in 1933. This five-day paint-out event will culminate in an exhibition and sale. Artists can paint on campus from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through
Friday and from 7:30 a.m. until noon on Saturday. They can choose to paint each day or only on selected days. The exhibition and sale will take place Saturday evening from 6 to 9 p.m.
Prizes will be awarded to three participating artists. The registration fee is $25, which supports the Green Fields fine arts program. The paint out is part of Arts Pandemonium, sponsored by the Green Fields Fine Arts Booster Club. The Arts Pandemonium includes a Mardi-Gras-themed wine-and-cheese reception and silent auction, in addition to the Plein Air exhibit and sale.
To apply, artists can email three digital jpeg images (300 dpi or higher) of their original art for review to Susan Alexander at email@example.com. A completed application and entry fee payment also must be received at the school at 6000 N. Camino de la Tierra by Jan. 30.For more information, contact Alexander at (520) 270-6351. Artists can paint any Green Fields subject, ranging from the historic architecture –including original adobe-brick buildings from the 1930s to a geodesic dome from the 1970s – plus mountain views, people on campus or the school’s chicken coop and garden. This year the Green Fields community orchestra will play on the lawn and model for the artists.
Registration will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 4. Artists will have canvases stamped and receive a campus pass and map. Canvas size is limited to 11” x 14” or smaller. The maximum overall hanging size is 22” x 24.”
Green Fields is Southern Arizona’s oldest independent college prep school serving grades K through 12.
