The Tucson Jewish Community Center to Showcase the Photographic Works of Edlynne Sillmanby Hot Off The Press (Release) on Feb. 12, 2013, under Press Releases
TUCSON (February 11, 2013) – “Visions of the West” is the latest collection of photographs by local artist Edlynne Sillman and will be featured in the fine art gallery of the Tucson Jewish Community Center through March 13, 2013. An artist’s reception will be held February 14, 2013 to celebrate her latest work.
Taken in June of 2011 at the historic Mantle Horse Ranch, Sillman’s photographs explore landscapes, horses and cowboy culture in a contrasting visual landscape. “As a native New Yorker, I grew up in a vertical world,” said Sillman. “Tall buildings forming narrow canyons caused my drawings, etchings and photographs to be close-up portraits and vertical landscapes. The vast open spaces experienced since living in the magnificent Sonoran desert, changed my vision to a horizontal perspective.”
A special artist’s reception for Sillman will be held Thursday, February 14, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. Her photographs are on display in the Tucson Jewish Community Center’s Fine Art Gallery through March 13, 2013 during the following hours:
Monday-Thursday 9 a.m.-9 p.m.
Sunday & Friday 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
Closed Saturdays and Jewish holidays.
