Tucson Together Fund Closes
by Hot Off The Press (Release) on Feb. 14, 2013, under Press ReleasesPOC: Bill Carnegie, Board Chair, Tucson Together Fund Board (Cell) 904-8682
The Tucson Together Fund Board has voted to distribute its remaining funds to the victims of the January 8, 2011 Tucson shooting and cease operations. The Fund was the only officially sanctioned fund established to assist victims, families, and witnesses of the January 8th tragedy in Tucson. As the funds were collected specifically for the victims of the shootings, the board felt it appropriate that any remaining funds should be directed toward those victims. A small amount was also transferred to Homicide Survivors, a Tucson based nonprofit, for any future claims that may be submitted by the victims. “When the Pima County Attorney’s Office advised us that a local trial would not be conducted, we made the decision to disband the board and distribute the remaining funds”, said Bill Carnegie, Board Chair.
