Water Line Relocation Will Briefly Interrupt Service to Star Valley Villageby Hot Off The Press (Release) on Feb. 14, 2013, under Press Releases
A construction project on land owned by the Pascua Yaqui Tribe includes relocation of a 16” potable water line that serves customers in and around Star Valley Village. A water service shutdown will take place from 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 20, until 5:00 a.m., Thursday, February 21, 2013. The affected area is located south of Valencia Road, near Wade Road, west of Casino del Sol.
The planned shutoff is expected to be less than eight hours. Tucson Water and the contractor will have staff in and around the construction area.
“Tucson Water has an easement on the tribal nation’s land,” said Fernando Molina, Tucson Water Public Information Officer. “Improvements to a golf course adjacent to the casino make it necessary for our potable water line to be moved and placed deeper in the ground. The Pascua Yaqui Tribe is paying for this project.”
Notices in English and Spanish have been mailed to customers in Star Valley Village and the affected vicinity. Water should be drawn in advance for drinking, cooking, washing, etc. Tucson Water has also notified the Drexel Heights Fire Department of the brief water service interruption.
