FREE Health & Wellness Fair Saturday, April 14, 2013 at Children’s Museum Tucson!
by Hot Off The Press (Release) on Mar. 21, 2013, under Press ReleasesTucson, AZ (March 13, 2013) –The Children’s Museum Tucson will host the annual Health & Wellness fair – Let’s Get Fit on Saturday April 13, 2013 from 10 am to 2 pm. The Museum will offer FREE ADMISSION all day (10:00 am to 5:00 pm), while the event, Let’s Get Fit, will take place between 10 am and 2 pm both inside the Museum as well in the courtyard and on the lawn along 6th Avenue.
Let’s Get Fit is geared for families and children of all ages to discover the importance of living healthy lifestyles. Children will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on demonstrations and activities while parents will learn about local health resources available in our community.
Participating guest organizations for Let’s Get Fit include American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Ben’s Bells Project, Brookline College, CareMore Health Plan, Child & Family Resources, Inc., Club Arizona, El Rio Community Health Center, General Dentistry 4 Kids, Nourish, Pima Community Access Program, Pima County Health Department, PSA Art Awakenings, Rural/Metro Southern Arizona Operations, Sarver Heart Center, Therapy Animals of Southern Arizona/Pet Partners, Tucson Medical Center, Tucson Strider, Tucson Village Farms, United Healthcare Community Plan, University of Arizona Biomedical Engineering, University of Arizona Health Plans, University of Arizona Medical Center – Pediatrics, University of Arizona Women’s Health Department of ObGyn.
Along with providing resources to the community, Children’s Museum Tucson is teaming up with Arizona Public Media during the Let’s Get Fit event to screen Curious George “Swings into Spring.” Viewing times are at 10:30 am and 12:30 pm. Arizona Public Media will also be in our courtyard giving children an opportunity to learn about gardening as well as take home a tomato pot. In addition, we will also have cooking demonstrations with Chef Haile Thomas from Kids Can Cook using a variety of fresh and healthy ingredients.
Free admission for Let’s Get Fit is made possible through the financial support of our presenting sponsor, Blue Cross© Blue Shield© of Arizona, An independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. Additional sponsors are Arizona Public Media, PBS Kids, and the Pima County Health Department.
