OLD TUCSON HOSTS THE WILD WEST PERFORMING ARTS SOCIETY ANNUAL CONVENTION & WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS!
(Tucson, AZ) Join the Wild West Performing Arts Society (WWPAS) on Friday, April 12 thru Sunday, April 14, 2013 for the WWPAS World Champion Competition, another Old Tucson Signature Event! Event hours are 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Step back in time to the days when everyday skills cowboys honed on the trail were raised to an art form and showcased in Buffalo Bill Cody’s Wild West shows. Trick roping, fancy six gun spinning, daring displays of knife throwing, and death-defying bull whip shows were performed live before enthralled audiences. Relive these bygone days at this “must see” event on April 12 thru 14 featuring the largest gathering of Wild West Arts Performers and aficionados in the world right here at Old Tucson.
This prestigious world-class competition will be held at Old Tucson’s Stage Two venue where you also will have an opportunity to test your own cowboy skills and receive hands-on instruction and coaching from the Best in the West. Just outside, at the Bitter Creek stage, see intense competition for the coveted title of “WWPAS Performer of the Year!”Browse the vendors and artisans to find the perfect memento of your day.
“The goal of the Wild West Performing Arts Society has been and will continue to be keeping America’s Wild West Arts Heritage alive for generations to come,” said Dr. Buck, Hollywood stunt man, Wild West show producer, and the Trail Boss for WWPAS, “and its Members are excited to bring their 2013 Convention and World Championship Competition to the world famous Old Tucson!” Old Tucson CEO & General Manager Pete Mangelsdorf added, “We welcome the WWPAS and are pleased to host this Old Tucson Signature Event dedicated to preserving our Western heritage and culture.”
