Professor Emeritus Featured in Film on UA Campusby Hot Off The Press (Release) on Apr. 26, 2013, under Press Releases
Guy McPherson was an award-winning tenured professor for 20 years at the University of Arizona. His life has taken a dramatic turn since he left the institution four years ago — sufficiently dramatic, in fact, to inspire a documentary film.
McPherson left the University of Arizona as a tenured full professor at the age of 49 in 2009. He went back to the land in southwestern New Mexico, where he lives in an off-grid, straw-bale house and puts into practice his lifelong interest in sustainable living via organic gardening, raising small animals for eggs and milk, and working with members of his rural community. Independent filmmaker Mike Sosebee documents McPherson’s efforts in a film titled, “Somewhere in New Mexico before the End of Time.”
The film will premiere in Tucson Saturday, 4 May 2013. Details follow, as well as contact information for McPherson and Sosebee.
Premiere viewing of “Somewhere in New Mexico before the End of Time” will occur at the Gallagher Theater on the University of Arizona at 7:00 p.m. the evening of Saturday, 4 May (Memorial Student Union, 1303 East University Boulevard). The film’s primary subject, professor emeritus Guy McPherson will be available to answer questions, as will filmmaker Mike Sosebee.
