The 2013 Capital One Academic All‐District Baseball Teams,
selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been
released to recognize the nation’s top student‐athletes for their combined
performances athletically and in the classroom. Kansas Wesleyan’s Colton Zebe (Tucson, Ariz. / Highland HS)
was selected to the District 6 All-District Team. Capital One has been the
entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA’s Academic All‐America teams programs since
Nominated by current CoSIDA members at their respective
institutions, nominees to the Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-America program
must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.3 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
and must have attended their current institution for at least one full academic
year and have reached sophomore athletic eligibility status.
Members of the eight All-District teams are selected by a voting
process among all the CoSIDA members in each respective district. Kansas Wesleyan competes in College Division of District 6,
which consists of NAIA and junior college student-athletes that attend school
in the states of Kansas, Montana, Nebraska and South Dakota.
Zebe, a senior from Tucson, Ariz., helped the Coyotes
to a 22-24 record in 2013. He played in 41 games in multiple positions, batting
.264 on the season with 34 hits that included five doubles, a triple and two
homeruns. He drove in 21 runs and scored 21 times on the season. He also made
10 appearances on the mound for the Coyotes in relief, pitching 13 and a third
innings with two saves and a 2.70 ERA. He struck out 13 batters against just
A true team player, Zebe stepped in anywhere he was
needed during the season playing mainly third base, but also getting starts in
the outfield and at designated hitter as well as on the hill. Academically he
has been a 2-time Dean’s Honor Roll honoree and was on the President’s Honor
Roll in Fall 2011.
Honorees to the
Academic All-District First Team in their eight respective districts are then
considered for Academic All-America status as voted on by the National Academic
All-America Committee. The Academic All-America teams will be announced on May
28 by CoSIDA.
