JTED ECE instructor named CTE New Teacher of the Yearby Hot Off The Press (Release) on Jul. 01, 2013, under Press Releases
JTED @ Mountain View Early Childhood Education (ECE) instructor Lauren Moraga will be named the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) New Teacher of the Year, at an 8 a.m. awards breakfast ceremony, July 17, at the Westin La Paloma Resort.
The awards breakfast is part of the ACTE-Arizona annual conference in Tucson.
“Lauren is an excellent choice for this honor considering her students’ off-the-chart assessment scores, and her ardent commitment to numerous boards and programs statewide,” said Curt Bertelsen, Pima County JTED professional development director. “She is very impressive for such a young teacher.”
Moraga, 27, serves on the Pima County JTED Early Childhood Education Advisory Board, has worked extensively on the JTED Curriculum Writing Project, helped develop questions for the CTE State Early Childhood Student Assessment, and contributed to the Pima County JTED ECE Performance Based Assessment used across Southern Arizona.
She has also been an active Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) advisor for five years with national contenders every year, and is a member of the FCCLA Board of Directors.
ACTE is a volunteer non-profit association providing professional development for CTE professionals and public awareness about CTE’s value.
