Acclaimed, Tucson based, flamenco-rock band TESORO will be performing their newest material in which they are currently in the studio for. Tesoro is a fusion of flamenco, rock, pop, rumba and cumbia guitars. The band is a mix of founding members Brian Scott (Lead Guitar) and Justin Fernandez (Vocals and Guitar), Andrew McClarron (Percussion, Base Guitar and Vocals), Gabriel Kaiser (Drums) and Venezuelan born lead singer Efisio Giordanelli. They will be performing at The Rialto Theater Saturday, July 20th along with 2 other acts, Gabriel Ayala Trio and Belly Dance Tucson. Belly Dance Tucson is a professional dance company that not only holds classes throughout the city but also performs professionally with a troupe. Gabriel Ayala Trio is an international award winning recording artist. He most recently performed for the Pope in Rome, Italy and President Obama’s inauguration.
The much-talked-about band, Tesoro, made a triumphant first appearance at the well-known music festival in Austin Texas, SXSW. They played with the best of Tucson’s live acts. According to the Tucson Weekly, “the crowd was completely bugged out”. After following Chicha Dust, Tesoro more than stepped it up a notch. They used their high energy and passion to astound the crowd and get them off their feet. The band has graced plenty of local newspapers and blogs with their talent and charisma. They also can be seen on The Morning Blend and can be heard on KXCI Radio with Cathy Rivers.
Tesoro creates music that not only mesmerizes the audience but captivates even the most sophisticated Flamenco purists and enthusiasts with their unique sound. They will make you want to jump out of your seat and dance. After two live CD’s and numerous performance video, Tesoro is back in the studio but this time with producer/engineer Jim Waters (Sonic Youth, Chuck Prophet, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion). Tesoro is working towards a late summer release. The band plays at least 100 shows a year. You will soon find them on a longer, larger tour coming up in the fall. Please keep your eyes and ears open for those dates, but for now you can find them playing around town.
