Teachers, students and classrooms across Southern Arizona will benefit from the more than $192,000 worth of supplies raised by Tucson Values Teachers (TVT), Walgreens, the Tucson Association of REALTORS®, Jim Click Automotive and KVOA.
From July 28 through August 11, donors across Southern Arizona dropped off crayons, pencils, paper and other school supplies to Walgreens, KVOA, Peter Piper Pizza and the Tucson Association of REALTORS®.
After careful sorting, these supplies will be delivered to dozens of school districts, as well as private and charter schools in Tucson and Southern Arizona.
“Thanks to the support of Southern Arizona and our partners, we have been able to take some of the burden off of the table for teachers who have reached into their own pockets to supply their classrooms and support the students across Southern Arizona,” said Jacquelyn Jackson, executive director, Tucson Supplies Teachers.
This year’s drive saw an 86 percent increase over the $103,000 in donations raised in 2012. Since its launch, the TVT Tucson Supplies Teachers school supply drive has raised almost a half a million dollars to benefit Southern Arizona educators.
Donations can still be made online at www.tucsonvaluesteachers.org.
