PCC Women’s Soccer’s Season Ends at Chandler-Gilbert
Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College women’s soccer team (11-10-1) created chances but couldn’t put a goal through the net in its 1-0 lost against No.2 Chandler-Gilbert Community College on Thursday in the Region I, Division I semifinals.
Chandler-Gilbert controlled the field possession but Pima gradually gained momentum as the first half progressed, which included three shots on goal towards the end of the half for the Aztecs.
Pima came out in the second half continuing to attack but Chandler-Gilbert scored on a shot in the 59th minute to take the lead. The Aztecs continued to create opportunities as time ticked away. Kamree Cady (Sahuaro HS) had a chance with a shot but the Chandler-Gilbert goalkeeper made the save from her knees in the 86th minute.
Shelby Penrod (Marana Mountain View HS) made a diving save in the first half and made two more gallant saves in the second half to keep Pima alive. She finished the game with four. Each team finished with five shots on goals.
