(Keith Ames, June15, 2011) Fathers Day comes but once a year and what better way to celebrate than to have the Total Seal Late Model Racing Series at USA Raceway.  The Late Models have their roots and owe their foundation of popularity to many of the fathers who raced in the early years of this division.  Fierce competitors like Carl Trimmer, Marion Smiley, Terry Belcher, Jack Kokot as well as Jimmy Ray and Royal Jones and many, many fathers thrilled race fans in the early years of late model racing Tucson Style.

When the “ground pounders” of the Southwest roar into USA Raceway this week, there is a new point leader.  Anthony Madrid vaulted to the points lead in the Total Seal Late Model Racing Series by sweeping the two Memorial Weekend races at Canyon Speedway Park.  Madrid notched his 2nd and 3rd  Wins this season giving him a 24 point lead over Lonnie Parker Jr. and is 61 points ahead of team mate and the 2010 Total Seal Champion, Ricky Thornton Jr.

As the summer continues to heat up in Tucson, so does the racing action at the Benji Lyons promoted USA Raceway!  The Factory Stock points leader, Terry Churchwell from Coolidge Arizona is in a tight points battle with the seasoned veteran and hometown fan favorite, Ron Bishop who has returned to racing this season.  Former Factory Stock Champion Bob Burchett is on the heels of Bishop and only 24 points behind Churchwell.  14 year old Brandon Farrington with an X-Mod 1st Place finish on June 4th is a rising star to watch.  Rick Butler, the current point leader and Aldon (AJ) Huebner, the apparent Winner on June 4th  both disqualified last race for trailing arm issues will light up the tires in the X-Mod Division.  The Dwarf Cars and the Hornets round out divisions racing on Fathers Day Weekend.

The entire evening will be a celebration for Fathers in the House!  The Fathers Day experience begins with each father receiving a ticket when they enter the front or the back gate.   The 2nd Annual Fathers Day Classic Car Show will be featured by Lyons Promotions and is the beginning of a special night for Fathers.  Lyons states: “This ticket will be for a chance at winning something special from the ‘Thank you Dad’ Raffle that will be held throughout the evening.  A few of the items include: a brand new top of the line 42″ Plasma TV from Best Buy, Craftsman 255 pc. Mechanics Tool Set, a Home Surround Sound System (over $3k price tag!), a Wet/ Dry Shop Vacuum, 2 Season Passes and many more items for the dads in attendance.

General admission tickets will go on sale for only $15 for Adults, $12 for Seniors, Students and Military and racing will begin promptly at 6:45pm. Suite Access Passes will allow race fans the opportunity to enjoy the races from USA Raceway’s VIP Suite.  Enjoy the races in luxury for only $30!
