Janis Joplin and her band “Big Brother & The Holding Company”……great music i have a few Lp’s still and now CD’s.
Tyler your story hits the nail on the head Janis had a style in those days that was unheard of but certainly unique, as for Lady GaGa all style and no substance a flash in the pan, time will tell. I suppose todays musicians/singers need a gimmick.

Thank you for a great story. Janis Joplin has never been given enough credit for her singing. Jimi Hnedrix music is still played all the time, byt Janis’s music simply disappeared (off the radio). I’ve been listening to Janis since I was 13, now 48. Maybe-Live is my all time favorite! Janis Lyn Joplin, Jan. 19, 1943 – Oct. 4, 1970.

Beautiful picture of Janis. I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to see her perform years ago. “Maybe” is also one of my favorites.

I haven’t heard Ms GaGa myself, but I have certainly seen endless numbers of images of her and I have to wonder if she could pull it off without the costume changes. I think of her as the logical progression of Madonna.
