I'm just thinking; what if you had just written "I believe I’m going to hop in the car and go to Dunkin Donuts for some delightful hazelnut coffee and a powdered doughnut; my thanks to you for putting the idea in my head!"
What a pleasant message that would have been for such a sweet piece as Tyler has written - pun intended.

Ah donuts...subversive balls of dough that make me feel more guilty and not as satisfied as eating some other sweet treats. I grew up in a Midwest steel town and remember eating La Roy's donuts. We didn't get them too often but when we did -- oh my. I can almost still taste the chocolate cake donut with the cream filling (not that chemical stuff they put it in now) with dark chocolate icing. If 5 donut holes were 300 calories I shudder to think how many calories was in that donut.

I'm wondering how I too can get a job at the Citizen - your sophomoric grammatical and sentence-structure errors lend themselves to an "Average Joe" such as myself being able to write circles around you.
Now that I've gotten that out of my system, I believe I'm going to hop in the car and go to Dunkin Donuts for some delightful hazelnut coffee and a powdered doughnut; my thanks to you for putting the idea in my head!

And, before Dunkin Donuts, came the waffle wagon, right down your urban street. Ah, the marvelous smell of frying dough and syrup! What I wouldn't give for a repeat of that experience; but, alas, gone - all gone.

Ah, happy food. There is no greater donut story than was told by Robert McCloskey about young Homer Price: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homer_Price. Besides being a fun story, among many in the book it is also a great introduction to genuinely good writing about a bygone era in this country. Thank you for the reminder about some of the wonderful culinary history of this nation.
