Thanks for the recipe, Tyler. I can't wait to try it. We're big squash eaters around here.

Very true Azmouse. Miss mine too. She'd do everything and her daughters would make an assortment of pies with enough for everyone to take at least 1 whole pie home. Those were the days...

When my Grandma was still alive, we did the same thing. My Dad has eight brothers and sisters, so with all their spouses and kids there was always a ton of people.
This year, I'm having it at my house and my parents and kids will come here. I also invite any single guy friends I have, because they tend to not go to the trouble of doing all the cooking and stuff and I feel sad to think of people being alone on Thanksgiving.

Sounds like allot of fun, Jennatoolz, and brings back memories. I miss my Grandmother soooo much. She was the best! Nobody cooks like Grandma! :)

Thanks Tyler!
Sounds really good, and I like the fact you can kind of throw in anything you have on hand. I'll try it this weekend. The touch of honey sounds great in the dressing.

I love to cook as well, and I'm a recipe junkie! lol

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays! Usually, my mom's side of the family gathers up at Grandma's house and we have the huge, buttery, carb-filled traditional feast! Grandma does most of the cooking...Grandpa does the turkey slicing. Everything is laid out on the counter, and we all line up with plates in hand ready fill it up with as much yumminess as possible. We're all meeting up this coming Saturday afternoon. I can't wait!! :D

Morning azmouse and leftfield.
Okay okay please don't break me down! Spaghetti squash recipe I have many and never do it the same but it sort of goes like this.
Cook a spaghetti squash I cheat and cut it in half and put it in the microwave (bad karma oh no) Then I used a fork and dish it out into a bowl.
Now I cut up whatever I like to put in it. Normally it looks like this.
½ yellow bell pepper
½ red bell pepper
3 roma tomatoes
¾ cup uncooked broccoli
black olives (green or Greek also if you like)
Mushrooms (if you like)
Chopped green olives
green onions if you like (I don't like but many people do)
Mix up some balsamic vinegar with olive oil a tad of sugar or honey, Italian seasoning (fresh chopped basil is good too) toss stick in fridge and serve (you can cheat as I do sometimes and just add Italian salad dressing rather than the vinegar and oil)
Now you can add the following if you want
Parmesan cheese (or feta is good)
Chicken chunks
Tofu
It is one of those things that anything goes, I add cauliflower, zucchini, whatever is left in the crisper. Also spaghetti squash makes yummy potato pancakes just use the squash rather than potatoes. (Indeed I love to cook it is a passion feeds the soul)
Hmmm whats for lunch?

Our family still goes pretty traditional while cutting back on the fat, but I was raised that way. No butter on the turkey, no butter or cream in the mashed potatoes (Mom always used low sodium chicken stock in her potatoes for as long as I can remember) and my Dad actually has ALWAYS carved the turkey, and he cooked it too. Mom and me would do all the other stuff.
Also, pumpkin pie has allot less calories than pecan pie.

I have to say, your spaghetti squash salad sounds delish. I love veggies, but I don't have any spaghetti squash recipes. Maybe you could share the recipe for the yummy dressing??
