Tucson Pets: Dog in a tutu
Since no one seemed to give a wattle about a pair of dueling turkeys – although they were quite fetching – we’re moving on to feature a dog in a tutu.
Some may think dressing up dogs could border on animal cruelty, or at least animal annoyance, but that is certainly not the case with his miniature blue Shar Pei named Gidget.
Owner Christine Porter said Gidget loves to don dandy duds and strut about town.

“I think she is one of the world’s cutest dogs, and she may think so as well,” Porter said. Even Sawyer agreed after meeting Gidget at the Tucson Canine Classic. Phoebe liked Gidget, too, although she made me promise not to get any tutu ideas.
Gidget’s modeling career began when Porter got Gidget a football jersey just for kicks. Everyone loved it, Gidget realized everyone loved it, and a star Shar Pei was born.
In addition to raiding the closet, Gidget enjoys playing at the dog park, lounging about with no particular goal and watching baseball. She is an avid Blue Jays fan. She’s also big on celebrating the holidays.

One more Gidget trait is her protection of her owner. “Not only will she not eat anything that a stranger gives her, she will not let me eat anything that I do not get myself.”
Go, Gidget, go!

Yes, tutus should only be placed on dogs like Gidget that look so dashing in pink and neon green. Phoebe’s colors are more of a magenta or ecru….

Isn’t she just so adorable!?! Sharpei’s are such great family dogs, and smart too.
