Tucson pets: Pit bull party
We love when we can help pit bulls – or any breed for that matter – shed their bad rap.
Two Tucson pit bulls help us do just that.
Both were spotted several weeks ago at midtown’s Mansfield Park and the North Sixth Avenue Dog Park. We didn’t see the two pooches interact, but Sawyer says they’d be as adorable together as they are individually. And Sawyer is wise with these things.
First up is Bayzl, a 2-year-old sweetheart who thinks he’s a cat, said owner Sophia.

One of his cat-like qualities is chasing lizards – and actually catching them.
“That’s a lie,” said lizard-chasing Phoebe. “No one catches lizards.” While Phoebe has had no luck actually nabbing the dozens of lizards she has tried to catch, Sophia swears Bayzl get them. And eats them.
Next up is Bowser, who is just a shade over a year old and so full of energy he could barely sit still for the photos.

Bowser is a Parvo survivor, explained co-owner Samrat, and spent six days of his puppyhood in the hospital.
“It was easily the hardest six days of his life,” she said, “sitting still for so long.”
Bowswer also loves licking people’s faces and knocking young children to the ground. Both, of course, are all done in fun.
“I can see that being fun,” said head-butting Phoebe. “I can definitely see that.”
Do you have a pet that rivals Sawyer?

Cute pooches Rynski! Poor Phoebe is still trying to catch her first lizard? Maybe her incessant barking warns them to beware…

hahhaha! I’ll tell phoebe…although I’ve already given a list of 72 reasons why should stop that barking. make it 73.
I agree these two pooches are simply delightful. Both had great personalities, too.

Yay! I’m a total dog lover…and I have always felt bad for those breeds that have bad reputations. I used to have a rottweiler-mix and it made it a little more difficult to find an apartment because of their breed restrictions. Kinda like doggy-discrimination, right?
I used to be a dog-bather, and I’ve had experience with many different types of dogs and doggy personalities. Many times, it was those cute little pugs that will turn around and bite me before any of those huge, muscular pit bulls would. To me it really doesn’t matter the type of breed the dog is because I know for a fact that any pup can be aggressive, it just depends on how they were raised. It shouldn’t be the dogs with the bad rep…it should be their owners that raise them in a less-than-loving home.

ha! your rottweiler-mix story reminds me of how my shepherd-mix all of a sudden became a “collie-mix” on apartment applications! other applications specifically stated certain breeds that were not allowed at all.

Hehe, right. My rotti-mix was a cross between a Rottweiler and Shar Pei…neither of those breeds are allowed in a lot of apartments. She was totally cute…a wrinkly rottweiler! She made apartment-searching a little tougher, but we finally found a place that would allow her. I miss her a lot, life events forced me to find another home for her. =(

I have a shar-pei, pit bull mix. She is the sweetest dog in the world.

I love the stronger breeds.
Before Barnaby and Tibet, me and the kids had a Cane Corso (Mallus) and a Chinese Crested (Emerson)
A hundred and sixty pound dog and, gosh, Emerson was maybe 4 to 6 pounds? They were best buddies and so cute together.

Hey Rynski! Omg! That’s my dog, Bayzl, you featured! Thanks so much! I’ve been checking like everyday and was SO excited to see him! Honestly, I’m not lying about the lizards. He actually does catch and eat them. He even started getting sick from the toxins in their bodies, and we had to pen him up in his crate there for a while! Lol!

Yaay! Glad you kept checking back – sorry it took 200 years to feature him, but he finally got the spotlight he deserves. I believe the lizard story, but Phoebe was just upset because she never gets to catch any. Glad you are correcting the toxin situation and please give Bayzl a hug for me and Sawyer (Phoebe is still miffed about the lizard thing). Stay cool, Sophia!

What a cute article! And perfect for the time, considering what is going on with the NFL and Vick.
It’s true about the lizards. Bayzl is quick!!

Thanks, Arleeta. How wonderful you have the pleasure of knowing Bayzl. I only met him briefly, but I could tell he was a doll.
