Sawyer Says: Animal Talk - Rynski\’s dog Sawyer brings you animal news, views and furry friends fun (full disclosure: this is really written by Ryn)

With all this Thanksgiving gratitude kicking around, it’s only right to extend it to our best furry, scaly or feathered friends.

Sawyer insisted on creating his own gratitude slide show, which you can enjoy below.

Since he has a heart the size of China – or at least he often digs up the yard to get to China – he also wanted to pass some tips that would make any pet grateful and glad.

Pettings:

We’re not sure if Lazlo the lizard really cares at all if he gets a scaly massage, but Sawyer loves being brushed and Phoebe cannot live without her tummy rub. Gentle and frequent caressing and pettings of your pet is one easy way to make them swoon.

Outings:

While cats may not particularly care for a trek to Mount Lemon – or may like it so much you’ll never see them again – it’s important to do things with your pets. Daily walks for dogs are a must. Daily playtime with cats and others are also required. Round out the mix with outings to the park, pet-friendly festivities and fundraisers. For the little critters, like the rats and Lazlo, give them frequent breaks from their cages.

Special treatment:

Yes, yes, we know. “Good” pet owners are not supposed to let their pets on the bed, couch or other furniture lest the pets think they rule the world. To heck with being a “good” pet owner then.

What makes your own pets most happy?

Are you a “good” pet owner or do you let your critters on the bed and couch?

    Ryn, you need to add:

Is your cat a “good” human owner?

    • Rynski

When my youngest daughter moved out last year, she took her cat, Nermal, with her.  However, she only moved next door and Nermal only goes there to eat (and hopefully, to poop and pee).  The rest of the time Nermal is in my house or yard in spite of the fact that I provide no food or litter box.  She owns my house, yet she refuses to make the mortgage payments.  Fortunately, she is not making any other kind of “payments”, at least that I have been able to find.

          hahhahah! I love nermal.
what a hilarious cat. i wouldn’t fret about the mortgage payments as long as, as you say, the other “payments” are being made next door. hahahha.
nermal sounds like a great feature for sawyer’s tucson pets.
if you wish, e-mail photo and more funky nermal facts to  rynski@tucsoncitizen.com.

Haha! Another fine batch o’ pics Rynski! I especially like the precarious pizza, and Sawyer belly-up! What a hammy hound you have there.(the pic of Sawyer and you is adorable also) Hope the hand in the pizza pic  didn’t lose any fingers :) …say, you don’t have a pair of beggin’ dogs, do ya Rynski?  I hear that’s trouble…

    • Rynski

sawyer is a TOTAL ham…people always ask why phoebe gets in so few photos and it’s because, well, sawyer is a photo hog and also because pheobe HATES the camera.
have to get her only when she’s not expecting it or sleeping like she does, in that pose like a tipped over cow..hahahha.
pizza fingers were safe…but only because the person connected to them got wise and moved the plate to the center of the table.
beggin’ dogs?! funny you should ask…that’s one of the upcoming topics…and why do you think i would have beggin’ dogs? hahaha

I’ve said it before, but that Sawyer is one pretty pooch. He’s so photogenic!

    Those photos are fun.
Lily turned 12 in October and I gave her the dubious honor of alpha bitch. It made my life easier.
When I got Lily, I still  lived in So. Calif. She spent one night off the Caliente Tijuana track and then came to my house to be fostered. (I failed fostering). Within 5 minutes of being in my house, she jumped on the couch and my bed and picked up the toy and ran out back with it. She’s a pistol and I love her feisty self.
