Ryn, you may remember last year the day after Thanksgiving you wrote an article about attitude and gratitude regarding Lizzie Mead’s greyhounds who were the victims of a 5-car hit-and-run accident and suffered $14,300 worth of vet bills.

Some of us greyhound adopters got together and helped Lizzie raise the money through our blog, through media attention, through beaded bracelet sales, and through insurance money. Amazingly we paid off the vet bill in six or seven months.

But we still had beads so have continued and so far since then have sold $6,040 (a/o 10/09) worth of bracelets (at $20/each) to raise funds for various animal rescues. Here’s our donation history.

For the month of November, we’re donating all the sales to Hope Animal Shelter. They will have the bracelets at the arts & crafts fair and can keep the money from what they sell.

Also, we need more beads. So far all our beads have been given to us. One bead store went out of business and gave us 40 pounds of bead. We can only afford to do this if we are using beads that people no longer want or need. All my friends have cleaned out their closets and stash of beads that have been sitting around unused. If anyone has beads (not seed beads), please email me at karynzoldan@yahoo.com and I’ll arrange for someone to pick them up.
