Why Churchill Preferred Italian Cruise Liners, Plus Why Are People Flying Over New York City?
by Jim Gressinger on Feb. 01, 2012, under Odds 'N Ends & Odds, Personal Stories Worth Sharing
Ya’ know that stricken Italian cruise liner that ran into a rock last week and everyone had to ditch the ship, including the Captain who was reportedly the first one off. My friend Mike shared this with me and I thought it worthwhile to pass it on to you.
The plight of the Costa Concordia brings to mind a comment once made by Winston Churchill.
After his retirement, he was cruising the Mediterranean on an Italian cruise liner and some Italian journalists asked why an ex-British Prime Minister should choose an Italian ship.
“There are three things I like about being on an Italian cruise ship” said Churchill. “First, their cuisine is unsurpassed. Second, their service is superb. And then, in time of emergency, there is none of this nonsense about women and children first.”

Speaking of flying, I’m not so certain MJ could have pulled this move off even in his prime.
And back on my favorite topic, I will have several more videos about Southern Arizona posted in a few days. They’re almost done. In the meantime, you can check out some of my existing videos about places and people of Southern Arizona by clicking HERE.
