Dakota Cafe’: A Dining Reviewby Jim Gressinger on Jul. 30, 2013, under Restaurant Reviews
Trying to get the Mrs. to dine out is difficult. She just doesn’t enjoy it like most of our friends & family. When I have a dining review to write, I usually have to take someone other than my wife. Sometimes I think she’d rather have a root canal than go to a restaurant. Thus, to my surprise, she has suggested we dine out two Sundays in a row.
A week ago Sunday we had to take a laptop to the Genius Bar at the Apple Store in La Encantada. Afterward she suggested we have lunch. After some discussion, given all the dining options at this upscale mall, we settled on Blanco Tacos + Tequila. We had dined there last year and were so delighted with the experience we added Blanco to our List of the Best Restaurants in Southern Arizona.
Yesterday (Sunday) we took off to visit a fairly new museum without much thought to a late lunch. We had heard good things about the Museum of the Horse Soldier at Trail Dust Town. Although the “Town” doesn’t open until about 5 PM, the Museum hours are 11 AM to 4:30 PM except Mondays & Tuesdays, unless you have an appointment. I’ll have some Museum photos & a few related suggestions for you in a day or two.
After our tour of this small, but fine collection of historical artifacts related to the U.S. Cavalry over the past 200 years, we poked around the deserted “Town”. To our surprise & delight, Dakota Cafe’ was open & serving. In fact, aside from the Museum, it was the only open establishment.
I already posted my review of Dakota Cafe’ on my website, so I won’t repeat it here. If you subscribe (FREE) to SouthernArizonaGuide.com, you already received it with our weekly newsletter in your email box. Otherwise click HERE.
