Arizona enters the 2012 season ranked No. 8, marking the 24th consecutive preseason top-10 ranking for the Wildcats.

UA is led by pitcher Kenzie Fowler and third baseman Brigette Del Ponte, who have been named to the USA Softball Player of the Year watch list.

However, the starting lineup for coach Mike Candrea, in his 27th season, likely will include four newcomers, three of whom are freshmen.
