Illegal immigrants get help; U.S. victims nada
Eleven illegal immigrants working under stolen and fictitious Social Security numbers were caught in a raid, but we are going to give them a public forum to tell how it has affected their lives.
Yet there's nothing there about the people whose identities were stolen and used, or of the debt and frustration caused by this.
The illegal immigrants also have lawyers representing them, when the average citizen here legally cannot afford a lawyer. Do I see something wrong with this picture?
These people broke our laws, violating our community by stealing identities, yet we are giving them the opportunity to express themselves in a public forum with legal assistance.
I have many Hispanic friends and neighbors who came to the U.S. legally and have had to wait for their citizenship through hard work - not by sneaking across the border and using a false identity to gain work and purchase items in someone else's name.
I fail to see the logic in the human rights organization that is hosting this event.

Citizens need to take control - not chances
Al Gore has been studying and writing on climate change since the '80s. I have no problem with his research but question his conclusions.
He, like most climate scientists and computer models, as consistently underestimated climate damage by more than 100 percent annually.
What isn't taken into consideration is that feedback loops multiply exponentially while we simply add them. Doesn't work that way.
We need to turn all our problems into solutions, and the solutions need to also multiply exponentially. The trillions spent on two wars must be diverted immediately to energy independence for the world, not just us.
We must begin paying our debt to nature, which will begin to repair our economic crisis as the resultant recognition of our commonality will begin to repair our foreign relations crisis.
If you've got more money than I do, invest in green stocks and deal only with green businesses. If you're like me and have only two pennies to rub together, go to Obama's new governmental interactive Web site and put in your 2 cents' worth.
We had one miracle with our election. Now we need another. Two miracles in a row? Don't laugh, it's the same damn dumb chance we've always had.

It has its own rewards, but still merits a story
The Christian community held the 16th annual Hope Fest outreach to Tucson's homeless and working poor Oct. 25 at Tucson Electric Park.
Its purpose is to provide groceries, clothing, haircuts, assistance with dental, medical and education needs and referrals, while also offering spiritual counseling, compassion and hope.
A record 12,000 to 15,000 people attended, yet neither daily newspaper nor any local TV station reported on this event.
In these difficult economic days, what a pertinent, timely newsworthy story it was.
The work of hundreds of volunteers contributed to the event's success.
Dozens of faith ministries, as well as community-based organizations, came together for the poor and oppressed, providing materials on mental illness, addictions, employment, academic programs, etc.
We in the faith community are a vital part of our community, and we deeply care about this city and our neighbors.
Earlier this year, Hope Fest was honored nationally for its outstanding volunteerism, given one of the 10 awards made by USA Weekend "Make A Difference Day."
The award was accompanied by a $10,000 grant from Newman's Own Foundation. How sad that Hope Fest is recognized and honored nationally yet its outreach was not even covered locally.
This was a missed reporting opportunity!

Punishing Bush would air message, fix image
George W. Bush has been the most blatantly criminal of any politician in recent years. His impeachment would send a message that the United States is ready to reclaim its world leadership role and stand for integrity and justice!

Work a huge obstacle the disabled encounter
What is it like to have never been allowed to make a living? Try to imagine what it does to spend a lifetime diagnosed with epilepsy and never allowed to use your talents or to have a dream, because you have no way to make it come true.
Employers all over this country avoid people with a handicap. If they do hire them, they make sure they won't stay.
Now try to imagine what it would be like to find out you never had the handicap. You had a measles shot that produced a tumor on your brain.
What would it be like to dream of a change in your chances at making a living? To be a senior with only Social Security yet want to work. You run into discrimination even at Title V (ADA). By now even family have given up on you. What's life all about?
How do I know this? I have lived this life.

Hey Mr. intimidation man, GO FOLK YOURSELF!
I'm not recruitable, at least not for you.
YOU, who fail to comprehend the vested political and financial interest in Mexican Illegal Aliens, are not willing to stand up and DO anything to stop it.
The Left Wing are "doers." The right wing scumbags who employ Illegals are "doers." I am a "doer" as are the Minutemen.
You folks are "talkers." The letter writer hasn't a clue.
