Wise no longer on Wooden’s All-America listby Steve Rivera on Jan. 04, 2010, under Sports
Arizona senior guard Nic Wise is no longer on the John R. Wooden player of the year list.
The Wooden people recently released its 50-member player of the year list for those still in the running at the season’s midpoint.
No shock there, although I thought in the summer, Wise was going to have an incredible season – stats-wise.
But he’s averaging just 15.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 4 assists per game. I thought the stats would be about 20.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and seven assists a game. He’s had some unbelievable games to this point – back-to-back game winners two weeks ago – but he hasn’t been as consistent or as visible as UA has needed him to be. If he gets it going in the next 2 ½ months, however, he still does have a chance to win the Bob Cousy Award, one given to college basketball’s best point guard.
