Judkins away, will he ever play (again) at UA?
by Steve Rivera on Jan. 05, 2010, under SportsHave we seen the last of sophomore guard Garland Judkins?
Hard to say “yes” or a “no” but he hasn’t been with the team in recent days because he’s back in Texas to be with family after his grandfather passed away recently.
Arizona coach Sean Miller said today in the weekly Pac-10 Conference teleconference call that reports of Judkins leaving “are all premature.’’
“When we release a player goes that’s when it is definite,’’ said Miller.
Miller said he had not had a chance to sit down with Judkins or talk to his family.
There has been wide speculation among media members that Judkins would transfer at the semester in part because he hadn’t played much this season. He was averaging 4.3 minutes a game, but had played in just six games. He is averaging 1.2 points per game.
That said, it was a surprise he would return at all this season after a suspension-filled first season last year under interim coach Russ Pennell.
