Is NIT next for the Cats after its loss to UCLA?

by on Mar. 11, 2010, under Sports

It’s over. This time Anthony Gimino means it. I mean it. The Cats mean it.

And by over I’m talking about Arizona’s NCAA-leading streak will end at 25. Thanks for the memories. But Thursday afternoon’s 75-69 loss to UCLA was hardly an effort to advance in the annual Pacific 10 Conference Tournament.

Now, it’s sit and wait to see if the Cats get an invite to the NIT next week. Sunday night, UA should get the call. Arizona coach Sean Miller already has said he won’t accept a bid into the BCI, a third-tier postseason tournament.

In Arizona’ s post game radio show, former UA player Matt Muehlbach said the streak is disappointing for all fans’’ but going into the season it was a “great possibility.’’

Arizona is now 16-15 overall.
