Lute Olson to Attend Rivera UA Book Signing

by on Nov. 09, 2010, under Sports

It’s finally here – my new book on the Arizona men’s basketball program. The title? “The University of Arizona Basketball Vault – The History of the Wildcats.”

I’ll have a book signing, and former UA coach Lute Olson will join me in celebrating its debut. The signing will begin at 7 p.m. at Mr. Ans (6091 N. Oracle). Olson will also have his book – Lute! – available for a $15 donation. He’ll be there to also sign anything UA related for fans.

Former players Joseph Blair, Reggie Geary and Corey Williams are scheduled to attend. Also on making an appearance may be the voice of the Wildcats Brian Jeffries, who wrote the forward to the book. Arizona coach Sean Miller might show up to say hello.

Included in the book will be former UA All-American Sean Elliott’s signature.

“What a book and what a concept!’’ said Sean Elliott, who wrote the book’s afterward. “Arizona is a special place and always will be for me. Great, epic games played. Great moments.  And this book captures it all.’’

The book takes the reader through the century-plus history of Arizona basketball from the first game in 1904 through the 2009-10 season – from Bear Down Gym to McKale Center. This detailed “scrapbook’’ contains never-before-published photographs, artwork and memorabilia drawn from the UA athletic department and campus archives. Tucked into the dozen of sleeves and pockets, fans will find reproductions of historic game programs, numerous postcards and photos.

Included in the book are: a press pass from UA’s 1988 West regional victory over North Carolina, a 1997 national championship poster and a “1997 National Champions’’ replica felt pennant.
