Latest poll shows Jan Brewer is now at 60% despite debate performance

Brewer is up in the latest polls this week

Jan Brewer 60 – Terry Goddard 38.

The latest poll on the governors race shows that Jan Brewer is actually gaining support even though 85% of those polled knew about her debate performance.

Wow, Arizona! You never cease to amaze me…

Despite her halting debate performance last week, Arizona Republican Governor Jan Brewer now earns 60% of the vote in her bid for reelection, her best showing in the race to date.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Arizona Voters shows Democratic Attorney General Terry Goddard with 38% support. One percent (1%) like some other candidate in the race, and another one percent (1%) are undecided.

The race remains Solid Republican in the Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 Gubernatorial Scorecard.

Two weeks ago, Brewer posted a 57% to 38% lead over Goddard. Since May, Brewer’s support has steadily risen from 52%, while Goddard’s has hovered in the 35% to 39% range.

The survey, taken Tuesday night, follows nearly a week of negative publicity surrounding Brewer’s debate performance and suggests that voters remain focused on the issues that divide the two candidates. Brewer remains a champion of the state’s law cracking down on illegal immigration despite a U.S. Justice Department challenge, and she maneuvered around Goddard to fight the new national health care bill in court. Goddard opposes the immigration law and supports the health care bill.

Not that voters in the state are unaware of the debate. Eighty-five percent (85%) say they have followed recent news stories about Brewer’s performance in the debate at least somewhat closely, with 47% who have followed Very Closely.

I had no idea Arizonans were that dumb.

“It turns out that the governor’s inner circle of advisors includes a number with various personal and professional stakes in the prison-expanding revenues likely to be generated by the influx of immigrant detainees yielded by SB 1070. The governor is guided by lobbyists and close operatives of the Corrections Corporation of America, which capitalizes to the tune of millions per month on warehousing transferred undocumented individuals. While the racialized nature of “breathing while brown” laws is obvious, equally so is the financially interlocking character of the legislative parties involved and their pecuniary interests. It is likely that similarly dubious connections exist whenever race-baiting politicians fan the flames of ignorance and persecution.”

I do weep for the future of our state with this idiot at the helm. As would anyone who actually cares about Arizona. That anyone would vote for this complete moron to run our state is unforgivable.

Many tears will indeed be shed

Hopefully it will be a trail of tears……headed south

and from the unemployed… and from teachers whose schools are closing… but luckily there will be enough money for her prison buddies!

            • JoeS

Actually if 1070 works as intended there should be a REDUCED prison population due to the mass exodus.  if you do not wish to run afoul of the Arizona prison system,  don’t commit crimes in Arizona.   Do not enter the US illegally and you will not end up in privately run ICE detention facilities.

Three Sonorans,  help me BANKRUPT CCA!!!

Lets get the illegals OUT of Arizona so they can no longer be exploited by both the sale labor employers,  AND the criminal justice system.

Stick it to the man,  self deport !!!

          • raeofsunshine

Really? You proudly call for genocide? The mass murder and destruction of an entire people and way of life? Do you even know what the Trail of Tears means? Good Lord, the racists don’t even have to pretend to be humane anymore.
Many Native Americans suffered from exposure, disease, and starvation while en route to their destinations, and thousands died.
Absolutely disgusting that you would wish this onto other human beings.
You embody the hateful, racist agenda of Brewer and the lack of morals of the republicans who are destroying this state.

Tell us what you like about Terry Goddard while you weep. Do you think Terry Goddard “Cares” about Arizona? And speaking of complete morons, are you voting for Terry who is backed by the same troupe who bused in the protesters against SB 1070 from L.A.? Do you want more beheadings in the desert?

        • Three Sonorans

          More beheadings?

Even Brewer had to admit finally there were none…

        • raeofsunshine

What I like best about Terry Goddard is that he is not Jan Brewer. She is FAR TOO STUPID to  be in charge of anything, especially the state government. She and the republicans are gutting everything in the state. Soon we will have nothing left and no way to even live here.  Of course Goddard cares about Arizona and the people who live here. Brewer doesn’t care if we die in the streets! She doesn’t care if children starve or don’t have schools so they don’t even learn to read or have basic skills for the future. She is destroying Arizona, along with her cronies. And the help of people like you, of course.

Do you want more beheadings in the desert?

Andrew, this horse is dead.  There’s no sense in beating him anymore.
