The Chavez building is home to the Mexican-American Studies department at the UA.

Judge Roll, who was killed today at the Giffords event, was the federal judge assigned to the HB2281 case, who would hear the case being brought forth by the 11 teachers.

Coincidence?

Absolutely it is just a coincidence.  How could the shooter possibly know that Judge Roll would be at the event?

    • GinitiBey

ummm.  Perhaps  Congresswoman wasn’t actual target.  Perhaps shooter had advance knowledge comes to mind.

      • John

When did Judge Roll give any indication to the public that he would be at the event?

        • J

Roll often stopped by Giffords’ Congress on Your Corner events.

My heart goes out to all Arizonans and, indeed, all Americans, in this moment. I hope this tragedy allows us all to reflect on how we can make our society more loving and caring, more respectful of all people.
This shooting rose out of the midst of a tense social environment; it seems almost expected the way citizens have been acting and treating each other. From what I hear a child died, and there is never an adequate reason for such. For that child, in his or her memory, we should strive to overcome our differences and show our children how reasonable people conduct themselves in a democracy.
