Cholla High School students walked out today and marched two hours to the TUSD headquarters to protest the killing of the MAS courses in their schools today.

The big irony is this whole debacle is that the people in charge of banning their American Government, History, and Literature classes, from a Mexican-American perspective, are people like Dr. Pedicone, Dr. Stegeman, Dr. Sugiyama, Miguel Cuevas and Michael Hicks… and Dr. Lupita Garcia who was put in charge of supervising the program and who is also bowing down to Almighty Huppenthal.

One thing ALL OF THEM fail to mention is the federal court order on TUSD that requires the district to have the MAS courses and no less than the Ninth Circuit court has slapped Pedicone and his district with this deseg order telling them that have a racism against Latinos problem.

The federal court order is very real, but somehow they only pretend that state ruling is the only thing that exists. Federal vs. State dealing with civil rights; we have seen this many times before which is appropriate for this all to occur right before the MLK holiday weekend.

Imagine putting your children under the supervision of someone and some stranger comes to take them away. Should not the supervisor stand up and say “I am in charge of defending these children, I have been entrusted to watch over them and protect them. You will not harm them while I am in charge.”

Dr. Lupita Garcia has failed miserably in her role as supervisor of Ethnic Studies. We all knew she hated MAS, which is why Pedicone put her in charge of the program, so it would slowly go away, and this week the classes have been eliminated.

While a federal deseg order requires MAS classes, they ignore Uncle Sam in order to please Big Brother Huppenthal.

They will both be held liable.

The students that walked out of Cholla High School today helped expose how horrible Dr. Garcia is. She was furious at them today and came out to tell them to go back to their school on foot over two hours away.

She told them that racism is not about skin color, it is about education. This may be why she ignores the high school students and obeys Dr. Pedicone and Dr. Stegeman, not because she is “racist” against Latinos, but because she is “racist” against their lack of a Ph.D.

When students asked why African- or European history is still being taught, she had no response because she probably knows this is all racial profiling and she is a part of it. But she did remind students that the reason that MAS is no longer being taught is because “this is America” and to go to Mexican to learn “Mexican history.”

Dr. Lupita must really think we are dumb.

Then she says that she found $80,000 to help tutor Latinos. First of all, will Tom Horne go after her use of money strictly for Latinos?

Second of all, each Latino student brings over $6,000 to TUSD by enrolling there… so her $80,000 amounts to about a dozen students… TUSD has tens of thousands of students!

61% of them are Latino.

$80,000 amounts to a dollar or two for all the students. Wow, how generous she is! Her own salary is more than this.

Third, all this talk about $5 million or $15 million being taken away from the state? TUSD gets $63 MILLION from deseg monies!

That money should be going to pay for MAS and Ethnic Studies. That’s why TUSD gets that money in the first place. Where does that money come from? A FEDERAL COURT ORDER.

You know, the one they ignore to kill the program, but are more than happy to raid the money from? Money meant for minorities gets raided, and meanwhile right-wingers talk about Latinos wanting taxpayers to pay for their classes while in reality it is deseg money meant for minorities that funds their elite (unequal) education at University High, and highly non-minority school.

What part of Uncle Sam says these classes must exist don’t they understand?

And yet it is these fools that think the state triumphs over the federal government that have now killed the American Government – Social Justice Education Project, because clearly their understanding of American Government is so skewed that Arizona is more powerful than the United States.

Why do they support a weak US? Why do they disobey the US to appease Arizona?

Because they are not that smart, even with a Ph.D. to say that racism is not about skin color, while you are the person in charge of supervising Ethnic Studies shows not only how stupid Garcia is, but how sinister Pedicone is in putting her in charge of Latino children and letting strangers from out-of-state attack them under her supervision, under her watch.
