Effective Tuesday, October 5, 2010, new Tucson Water Customer Service hours for public telephone services will be 8:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. This change is being made in order to offer improved phone service during regular work hours.
For several years, Customer Service Representatives were available for phone service daily from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. The expanded hours of service allowed customers to call either before or after regular work hours. These additional hours of access were instituted prior to Tucson Water offering alternate methods for payment and other services through the Internet or via automated phone services.
Over the last two years, the call volume has increased by nearly forty percent. Additionally, staffing levels have remained static due to financial constraints. As a result of these conditions the Billing Office has struggled to keep up with the call load during regular work hours. Consequently, a decision was made to compress the hours of operation for public phone service, thereby allowing the full staff to respond to customer inquiries during peak call hours.
Customers are encouraged to request assistance for new service or to discontinue service through the Tucson Water website. Account information or payment options are also available through the internet. Additionally, account information and payment options are also available 24 hours by calling 791-3242 and selecting Option 1.
