Tara… 9-week-old black blue tick hound mix female
Tara and her siblings (Guinness, Merlyn, Hoke, Scout, Kaiser, and Moxie), all proudly bear names from some of the true heroes of 9/11 – search and rescue dogs that spent days and weeks at Ground Zero and are still living with their owners today (there were lots more of them, but their namesakes are some of the few still around). They were born on August 18th under a camper in Sahuarita and would still be there, but the family had to move, and they felt that the pups needed a more secure place to live until they all found their own places in the world. Tara’s mom was a blue tick hound, but no one is quite sure what breed dad was, so their “hidden” genes will manifest themselves as they grow. Suffice it to say, they are darling, warm and fuzzy butterballs, and they hope to grow into the kind of dog that they were named after. (Five of these pups have been adopted but Tara and Guinness are still available.)
ADOPTED***Nutmeg… 5-month-old grey tabby & white female***ADOPTED
Nutmeg arrived at TALGV along with her 5 “herb and spice” siblings (who have all been adopted to their own homes) when they were only a few weeks old, so they went to live with a foster mom until they were healthy enough to come back to the shelter and “strut their stuff.” No one knows anything about their history except they were found in a yard, but the important thing to know is that even though she’s not a “wee thing” any longer (she’s an “ancient” 5-month old girl now), Nutmeg is still a typical, mischievous, “into everything,” kitten who will win your heart in a nanosecond. You know how people-friendly tabbies are, so why don’t you give her the chance to prove it to you?
Mitzi is a seven year old chihuahua beagle mix, a wonderful compact package of loyalty and love. She enjoys walks and especially fond of running. She’s good with other dogs and although a tad on the chubby side she is otherwise happy and healthy and ready for her new life.
Eli is a year old foxhound. He looks like a large beagle and has wonderful silky ears. He’s still a puppy and loves to play. He is eager to please so the training he needs should be as easy as a piece of dog biscuit. He’s good with other dogs and children. He would love an active family with children.
Kyra – #705163 – 2 Years Old – Golden Retriever/German Shepherd Mix – Female
Gorgeous golden Kyra can’t help but shine! This sweet pup was surrendered twice as a result of financial hardship and after the newborn baby in her family suffered allergies. However, both of Kyra’s families had nothing but nice things to say about their fantastic companion. Fully house trained and excellent with dogs, cats and children of all ages, Kyra is practically perfect in every way! Among her favorite pastimes, Kyra enjoys going for walks, car rides and outings to the dog park – where she will exuberantly dash around in search of a playmate. Won’t you please be the one to steer Kyra on the road to a better life?
Bess – #702033 – 9 Years Old – Domestic Long Hair – Female
The classic example of a curious cat, Bess minds everyone else’s business for them. This sweet and sassy extra large bundle of joy loves snuggling, playing with toys and amusing her many admirers with spirited tumbles to solicit chin scratches. Please get to know this delightful kitty today at the Humane Society of Southern Arizona!
