Arizona Voters: Ask Gov. Brewer to Veto Animal Cruelty Bill, HB 2780by Karyn Zoldan on Apr. 11, 2012, under Animal Cruelty, Animal News, Dogs, Canines, Fun with Fido, Barking Encouraged
HB 2780 has sailed through the legislature. Here’s some history, I wrote about it previously.
Both the Arizona Daily Star and the Arizona Republic wrote opinions opposing HB 2780. The Bill puts dogs at risk for animal abuse.
HB 2780 was sponsored by: Peggy Judd from Cochise County, David Gowan from Sierra Vista, David Stevens & Gail Griffin from District 25, Matt Heinz from Pima County/Tucson.
In today’s Arizona Republic, Jane Schwerin, a Tucson animal lover and president of People for Animals in the Prevention of Cruelty & Neglect Inc., wrote a letter to the editor urging readers to call Gov. Brewer NOW and ask her to veto this bill.
“Dogs involved with herding would be stripped of protection from punishment and abuse.”
You can read Ms. Schwerin’s letter here.
