Tucson dogs needs homes - adoption fees waived

Tonopah waited patiently for the right adopter!

Calling all dog-lovers: The Humane Society of Southern Arizona (HSSA) is waiving adoption fees on selected pets through June 30. In an effort to help the 500 animals in their care find loving homes and make space during an unrelenting litter season, the HSSA is drastically reducing adoption fees – to zero!

During the Dogs of Summer adoption special, now through June 30, the HSSA is waiving adoption fees at all locations on mixed-breed dogs older than 5 months and over 25 pounds. *Excludes $16 licensing fee.

Nearly 300 cats and kittens are no longer homeless thanks to the HSSA’s Adopt-A-Shelter-Cat Month specials, allowing qualified adopters to take home a cat over 5 months of age free of charge through June 30. Despite the huge success, the HSSA is still bursting at the seams with animals as newborns arrive in full force and adult animals get overlooked.

“We are in the midst of our highest intake period,” explains Sara Gromley, public relations coordinator. “With so many fantastic companions available and unbeatable specials, now is the perfect time to welcome a pet into your home.”

Every adopter will receive all of the regular services for their new best friend, including microchip identification, up-to-date vaccinations, spay or neuter surgery, a bag of food, and a visit to the vet of their choice – all without having to pay the regular adoption fee of $80.

To meet with a variety of adorable pets and select your new sidekick, visit the Humane Society of Southern Arizona’s main shelter at 3450 N. Kelvin Blvd. 7 days a week. Also check out the HSSA’s PAWSH adoption centers at La Encantada and Park Place mall.

Tonopah arrived from Douglas, AZ in the beginning of January during the monthly spay and neuter missions.  According to the HSSA’s staff, she’s the sweetest dog.)
