Volunteering with your Dog

from the press release

Most people who know Handi-Dogs know about our Service Dog training – dogs that help people with disabilities live more independent lives. What some don’t know is that Handi-Dogs also helps train dogs with people who are interested in becoming therapy dog volunteers.

Therapy dogs are people’s pets, which after intensive screening are deemed appropriate by a registering organization to bring joy and comfort to others in places where pets traditionally are not allowed such as hospitals, assisted-living, hospice, and domestic violence shelters. Additionally, they can help children learn to read at schools and libraries through Read-to-the-Dog programs.

If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about whether this type of volunteer service is for you and your dog, please check out:

Free Therapy Dog Information Session
Date/Time: Thursday, Sept. 13, 6 to 7 pm
Place: Handi-Dogs, 75 S. Montego Dr., Tucson 85710
