Tucson Tails: Angels Yard Sale, Huachuca City, PACC Newsby Karyn Zoldan on May. 31, 2013, under Animal Events, Animal News, Cats Meow, Feline Fun, Dogs, Canines, Fun with Fido, Barking Encouraged
Angels for Animals is hosting a huge yard sale Friday, May 31 and Saturday June 1 from 7 a.m. until they can’t stand the heat (supposed to be triple digits).
Location: 1121 S. Eli Drive, north side of 22nd Street between Wilmot & Kolb
They have lots of items to sell, such as: tools, cordless drills, sander, hardware, dining room table, lawn furniture, miscellaneous car parts, snow skis, new shoes never worn, electronics, and tons more big and small stuff that you cannot live without.
Angels for Animals is a small, non-profit, grassroots dog rescue which began December 2009 when they became aware of the immediate need to rescue abandoned and abused dogs in the Los Reales Landfill area of Tucson known as “Dogpatch.”
Volunteers are needed June 1 and June 2 at the Huachuca City Animal Shelter. The pets have been removed and are at alternate housing. Renovation of shelter begins around 10 am and some manpower, i.e. men with upper body strength, is needed to help out as well as all willing volunteers who want to make this shelter a better place. Recently some people spoke out about the poor conditions at the Shelter and someone listened. Kudos to shelter volunteers who were not afraid to speak out. Location: 300 Howard St, Huachuca City, AZ 85616

Here’s an interesting article about Tucson Greyhound Park: “Allegations of doping, protests by greyhound advocacy groups and competition from nearby casinos have pummeled the facility.”
Pima Animal Care Center (PACC) is in great need of gently used towels and blankets so the pets have something soft to sleep. You can drop off at 4000 N Silverbell, Tucson, Arizona 85745.
In addition, PACC is currently running an adoption special through June 30, 2013. The adoption fee is $12 for dogs but adult cats are free. According to this Pima County News press release, in honor of national Adopt-a-Shelter-Cat Month, Pima Animal Care Center is waiving adoption fees for all adult cats for the entire month of June.

(Photo: Miss Lola/EXTREMELY URGENT – #A433576 placed on 48 hour hold until 7 pm/May 31. Miss Lola, a yellow Labrador mix, survived sick bay only to get a significant puncture wound on her inner left thigh. Her thigh is swollen and she cannot put any weight on it. She must leave PACC ASAP either in a foster home or a forever home.) – I hope someone saves this poor dog!
