AZ Bird Dog Rescue

Gwen: Pointer Mix

May 1 is National Black Dog Day. Black dogs are more difficult to adopt than other color dogs. For the next few days Tucson Tails will be listing some Southern Arizona black dogs available for adoption. If you are a shelter or rescue and have a black dog you want listed, please send a jpg (don’t embed in the document) plus some text (name/age/traits/contact info/etc.) to tucson.tails@yahoo.com

perfect pit bull

Tony aced Canine College

Humane Society of Southern Arizona

Tony is rising to great heights from his humble beginnings. Found cruising a busy section of Broadway in January, 1 year old Tony, a pit bull mix, was delivered to safety and is now making the most of his second chance. This mild-mannered and eager to please pup is already proving to be a genius in the Humane Society of Southern Arizona’s Canine College program. Tony shines as he shows off his instant and precise watch me, sit, down and come. Tony gets along famously with most dogs and would be delighted to meet all of the members of your family today at the HSSA!

Spunky lap dog friendly

Spunky lap dog friendly

SAFE Animal Rescue

Spunky is a 3 year old Lhasa Apso/Min Poodle mix who spent the first three years of his life locked out in the backyard. Fur was gone around his neck and he scratched his skin raw in some areas. After months of vet visits, baths, and good food his fur is growing back in and Spunky is looking much better. Special needs: Skin allergies controlled with diet.

Spunky is a happy go lucky dog that loves to cuddle in your lap while having belly rubs. He’s a very friendly and affectionate dog. Spunky loves stuffed toys and rolling on the couch. He’s also crate trained and uses the doggy door. Spunky gets along with dogs his size and would make a wonderful companion for senior.

You can meet Spunky on Saturdays at the Petco on Broadway/Craycroft from 11 am -2 pm. For more information, please visit the website at  or call 520-349-8637.

Dogs lost on La Paloma Golf Course

Dogs lost on La Paloma Golf Course

Urgent: This is day 4. These two scared foster dogs were last seen  at Sunrise and Via Palomita at Ridge 4 Golf Course between the 4th & 9th holes  at Westin La Paloma in Tucson.

Dogs are very timid and will not approach you.

If you see them please contact Terri Goddard Tucson Cold Wet Noses  235-6309 or email your exact location  to terrigoddard@hotmail.com

Tucson Cold Wet Noses is consulting an animal expert to trap them but spotting them and pin pointing their exact locations is priority in trapping them.

Please share this post with everyone and go help look for them. Call Terri with tips for looking if you need help.

The two dogs are small, weighing around 20-25 lbs and have petite frames. They were rescued on Monday December 3 from Maricopa West Shelter in Phoenix and brought down to Tucson and the original location they came to is up against Ridge 4 Golf Course, the street name is BrightStar.  They escaped within 1 hour of being there!

They are not familiar with this home or the area.  Again please contact Terri  immediately if spotted.  235-6309 or terrigoddard@hotmail.com

Hey Tucson! Can you help if you’re in the area? Or sitting around wondering what to do today. Manpower, women power, and people power needed for spotting…Let’s bring these two doggies home!

Thank you so much.  This blog post will be updated with more information as it becomes known.

Tucson homeless dog – Peggy Sue needs foster care

Peggy Sue wants you

Peggy Sue wants you

Peggy Sue is homeless and in boarding. She needs a foster home or a foster to adopt home ASAP. Please contact Tucson Cold Wet Noses.

My name is Peggy Sue. I am a 3 year old black and white female Queensland Healer mix weighing in at 45 lbs. I have a lot of energy and love to chase balls and go for walks. When it’s time to rest my favorite place to be is lying next to you with hopes of getting lots of attention and loving!

I am crate trained and know all the basic commands. I am having a little trouble figuring out how to tell you I need to go outside so a doggy door would be good or just remind me to go outside every few hours, I can hold it forever while in my crate.

I will always be right by your side in the house. I love to be outside and like to explore but if you leave anything out I will probably chew it up. I am also quite a good jumper so it’s best if you have a high wall and keep me on a leash when not confined with borders. I am quite good on a leash if I do say so myself.

My goal is to please but sometimes I need direction as to what you want and need me to do. I LOVE TREATS and WILL WORK ALL DAY WITH TRAINING just to get some.

I was on my own for a while and that’s a hard habit to break. Please understand that I have a playful bite that can sometimes get carried away, so your guidance will remind me to stay in control. The most important thing to understand about me is that I need to the “only” dog and/or pet in the household and probably best without young children until I get that playful nipping under control.

So, if you are looking for a fun loving and loyal pet, I’m perfect and I come with great references.
