Regular readers of this blog know how it tears my heart out when I see an old dog or sick dog at PACC on the “kill line.” In March I wrote about one such dog named Duchess.
Not always but sometime I am able to find out if the dog was saved by an animal rescue with a foster home. It’s rare that I find out if the dog was adopted and by whom, and even more rare that I actually meet the dog.
Today was one of those more rare days.
You see Petra from PAWSitively Cats reads Tucson Tails and she saw my plea about Duchess so she drove from her home in southeast Tucson to PACC (Pima Animal Care Center) and picked up Duchess as a foster dog for Tucson Cold Wet Noses.
Dear Duchess was fostered with six cats!
Then before Petra went on vacation, Duchess was adopted. Petra told me she was going to visit Duchess (now Dollie) and I asked to come along for the ride to Nogales, Ariz.
What a sweetheart!
She wagged her tail and treated all of us like old friends. It’s obvious that Dollie is living the good life filled with love and kindness with Judith and Ben and a 10-year-old American Eskimo ball of fire dog named Sasha. Dollie has the wonderful life that she deserves…what all dogs deserve.
I came away from there filled with happiness; so many hands and hearts helping to give these animals a second chance.
